Falling Water

So, Frankie built a house and he hung it over a stream. Built the house into nature, he did, to remind us that we are of the world.

And if you listen real hard, you can hear Frankie saying "we are not masters of the world, separate and aloof. Rather, we come from the water of the world and live beneath the shadow of its trees and dreams".

Of course, we picked the worst day of the year to go there- a warm sunny day when all of America wants to visit. So we couldn't get into the house and had to satisfy ourselves with walking round outside.

Water is everywhere around this place. There are water gods welcoming the water that arrives at the house.

The lounge is built over a stream.

A frog pond flags the guest house.

The house is made of flagstones that look like they come from the river- just to remind you that you are part of the stones of the world.

Flagstones in and out.

Frank was big on "form follows function". For example, the supports to the cover on the walkway to the guest house are on the cliff-side of the walk way (which is dangerous) but not on the garden side (which is benign and friendly).

Frank controlled everything, down to every decoration.

The place is surrounded by beautiful gardens;

green to burn your eyes out;

and a gentle stream running though the middle.

And afterwards, we went to the shop and Helen had an art attack looking at the stain glass.
